This DVD is part 11 of a special 18-DVD series by Discovery Films recording the coastline of the entire British Isles at the start of the 21st century.
The DVD starts at Ayr and travels south to the impressive Culzean Castle with its President Dwight D. Eisenhower links. Turnberry is the next stop with the world-renowned Open golf course. After visiting Girvan and Ballantrae, we arrive at Stranraer and the Rins of Galloway. Picturesque Portpatrick and Luce Bay then lead us first to Finian's Chapel, then to St Ninian's Chapel at the Isle of Whithorn where we experience the eerie atmosphere of a heavy mist and a completely flat sea.
Wigtown and Kirkcudbright are next, followed by Dundrennan Abbey. We travel on to the historic Southerness Lighthouse then to Sweetheart Abbey and the enchanting New Abbey Corn Mill. After an encounter with some bellowing highland cattle at Gretna Green, where we see the Famous Blacksmith's Shop, we travel down the Cumbrian coast to Barrow-in-Furness.
The DVD generally encompasses the entire coastline of the route set out, with occasional stops to highlight places of interest, or to take in some notable views.
The British Isles is a geographical term denoting the group of islands including Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales (Cymru), and Northern Ireland), Ireland, and all of the smaller isles and islands surrounding them.
This is an archive DVD that we continue to sell because of its popularity.
This is a brand new shrink-wrapped DVD which we, as the copyright holder and producer of the DVD, duplicated and which we sell on our site.
